Society of Experimental Test Pilots

The SETP is an international organization which seeks to encourage air safety and contributes to aeronautical progression by promoting the sound aeronautical design and development; thoughts, interchanging ideas and suggestions of the members, supplementary in the professional growth of experimental pilots, and providing scholarships and helps the members and the families of late members. The history of the society is once Seventeen pilots attended the first planned meeting of the testy test pilots society on the 29 September 1955. This name was later changed to The Society of Experimental Test Pilots during the second meeting on 13 October 1955. The society publishes a quarterly known as Cockpit that contains practical articles on flight testing. A periodic newssheet is also provided to its members. In addition to the Cockpit, the society also publishes the proceedings of the annual symposium in Los Angeles to offer a permanent record of flight test progress reports. The Society holds a number of conferences annually such as San Diego Symposium, Southeast Symposium, and Great Lakes Symposium, East Coast Symposium, European Symposium, Flight Test Safety Workshop, Los Angeles Symposium and Banquet and Central Symposium. In 1967, the Society formed a basis to provide for grants and other forms of educational help to children of dead or disabled Society members. As of 2009, the society has granted over 1.6 million dollars in educational aid to more than 140 students and approximately 12 students per year attend school with Society help. To be the standard world leader in promoting safety, education and communication in the design & flight test of aerospace vehicles and to their related systems. It also maintains a feasible professional and respected international society for all test pilots and aerospace corporations. The SETP has certain Core Values such as Integrity, Ethical behaviour, Professional Reputation, Experience and Expertise and Fairness etc.
