Society of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of Nigeria

The Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics of Nigeria was shaped in Lagos in 1965. The meeting up of obstetricians and gynecologists was viewed as imperative around then to encourage the trading of thoughts and to cultivate the obligation of relationship among authorities in the field.

SOGON was enlisted in Argentina in 1965 as a subsidiary of the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO). It is essential to specify that late Prof. O. K. Ogan's administration was all of a sudden ended by the episode of the Nigerian Civil War in 1967..

In 1977, the general public held its first global gathering in Ibadan, and without precedent for the historical backdrop of FIGO, the official executive meeting was organized in Africa. In 1980, the Tropical Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology was transmitted with Prof. V.E. Aimakhu as the editorial manager.
