Society of Infectious Diseases

ISID is focused on enhancing the consideration of patients with infectious diseases, the preparation of clinicians and scientists in infectious diseases and microbiology, and the control of infectious diseases around the globe. The Society perceives that infectious diseases cross all national and territorial limits and successful long haul arrangements require universal investigative trade and collaboration. The Society and its individuals are devoted to creating organizations and to discovering answers for the issue of irresistible infections over the globe.

The goals of ISID are to:

  • Increase the knowledge base of infectious diseases through research and enhance the professional development of individuals in this discipline
  • Extend and transfer technical expertise in infectious diseases and microbiology
  • Create and foster partnerships for the control and cost-effective management of infectious diseases around the world

ISID was created in 1986 by a merger between the International Congress on Infectious Diseases (ICID) and The International Federation on Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (IFIPD).    

The ICID had been built up in 1983 as an investigative get together for the trading of examination and clinical data in infectious diseases open to any intrigued person. A specially appointed Executive Committee for the ICID started exchanges with the IFIPD that finished in the 1986 merger of these two associations. The first ICID sorted out by the recently made Society was held in Rio de Janeiro in 1988.

The Society is made out of individual individuals from more than 155 nations around the globe. Since its initiation, ISID has been devoted to enhancing the consideration of patients with infectious diseases, the expert advancement and remaining of clinicians and researchers in the field, and the control of irresistible sicknesses around the globe.
