Society of Oncology and Cancer Research of Nigeria

Society of Oncology and Cancer Research of Nigeria, incorporated in Nigeria in 2006. The main purposes and aims of the Society are to promote and encourage the interchange and exchange of information and ideas, which are related to human cancer; tumour or neoplastic diseases, covering the biology, epidemiology, diagnosis, staging, treatment, ethics and psychosocial impact etc. aspect of cancer on human beings; to further the training of all persons in research and studies and in the total patients care with tumour or neoplastic diseases; to foster most favourable and best communication between the various specialties concerned with abnormal or tumour disease and to make easier the delivery of health services and care.

The mission of this society is to improve the cancer care and prevention, working on advancement of  education and training of physicians and other professionals in the care of cancer patients and also supporting the development of clinical cancer researchers; encouraging communication among cancer-related medical subspecialties and the exchange of a wide range of innovative ideas related to cancer, covering its biology, prevention, diagnosis, staging, treatment, and psychosocial impact; Advocating public policy that guarantee patient access to high-quality cancer care and that supports the growth in clinical cancer research; supporting oncologists in addressing the challenges of the modern-day practice of oncology.
