South-eastern society of Parasitologists

The South-eastern society of Parasitologists (SSP) is located in south-east part of America, which is an affiliate of the American Society of Parasitologists. This society is the mix of ecologists, taxonomists, cell biologists, immuno-parasitologists, veterinarians and academic students. It is started in the year 1969 and the president was Dr.Elon E Byrd. Every year the president, vice president and secretary-treasurer changes. Current president of South-eastern Society of Parasitologists is Dr.Chris A. Hall. The American Society of Parasitologists (ASP) is a group of 800 scientists from industry, government and academia who are doing research in Parasitology and also they are showing interest in studying and teaching. ASP members contributed not only to the development of parasitology field, but also to systematics, medicine, molecular biology, immunology, physiology, ecology and biochemistry. Every year SSP honour two student by giving them awards at the Annual Meeting. The respective awards are Byrd-Dunn Graduate Student Paper award and the new Ciordia Porter Stewart Undergraduate Paper award. The Journal of Parasitology is the official journal of the American Society of Parasitologists (ASP). It is non-profit and dues of the membership support the cost of publication in the journal. Over 1400 libraries world-wide subscribe to this Journal with rapid turn-around time and also with broad exposure. In the field of Parasitology, it creates long term impact for publishing paper.
