Statistical Society of Australia Inc

The main objective of the Statistical Society of Australia Incorporated (SSAI) is to study and apply and incorporate statistical methods and theory in different branches of enterprise and learning. It also provides a platform for exchanging statistical information and ideas with statistical workers for applications, consulting, teaching and research in the field of statistics. The society also organizes workshops and conferences and opportunity through branch meetings and workshops to keep beside of the latest advancements in statistics. It provides a peer professional recognition through accreditation. To its members it also provides subscriptions to the internationally recognized Australian and New Zealand Journal of Statistics and Newsletter of the societies, which provides general news and notes of relevance to the profession. Formation of a network of contacts, both national and international, throughout government, industry, business and academia. The “History of SSAI” was prepared by the Executive Committee of SSAI in the year 2012 for the celebration of the Society’s 50th birthday. The main aim was to create a ‘story’ of the Society, partly historical, partly discursive and partly personal reflections. This document is mainly based on the historical records of the Society, also it has other relevant literature and interviews with members. The publication has been authored by Lindsey Dixon and the Executive Committee had approved it.
