Swedish Society of Nephrology

​​​​​The Swedish Society of Nephrology (SNF) was formed in 1965, is a section of the Swedish Society of Medicine (SSM) and it encompass nephrologists but also other specialists with interest in nephrology. The aim of SNF is to promotethe continuous development of nephrology by organizing scientific meetings and discussions. Dr. Kerstin Westman is serving as President for SSF until the end of 2017, Gregor Guron, Vice President (until end of 2017) and Annette Bruchfeld, Scientific Secretary with approximate number of members 452 (November 30, 2015). Two national meetings are arranged every year. SSN collaborates with other societies of nephrology in countries like Island, Denmark, Norway and Finland i.e. the Nordic Society of Nephrology (NSN) we have biannual meetings. The society is active in issues regarding specialist training andannually arrange a specialist exam for new nephrologists.

The Swedish Society of Nephrology (SNF) shared passion for thinking in new and different ways is fundamental to company and drives to unlock the potential of blood. Through research and development (R&D) efforts, it transform scientific understanding into practical application. As of today, it hold more than 400 granted and around 300 pending patents in the areas of aphaeresis collections, manual and automated whole blood processing, pathogen reduction, therapeutic aphaeresis and cell processing. Plasma Exchange Innovation Award to make the most of our significant R&D investment, itencourage collaboration. Our efforts extend beyond offices and laboratories into the field where they work with thought leaders, industry associations and customers to develop innovations and apply them to their products and services. They connect investigators to each other and to resources. They also bring awareness to these efforts by lending their expertise and guidance to investigators as they seek publication of their studies. This approach further scientific understanding and will lead to more treatment options for patients. In addition to these efforts, Terumo BCT initiate, and the grant program within the medical device industry and continues to supports three programs that bring innovation in field of therapeutic plasma exchange, blood safety and therapeutic aphaeresis.
