Swiss Anaesthesia Society (SGAR-SSAR)

The Swiss Association of Regional Anaesthesia (SARA) there exist an association with the aim of the association shall be to provides and promote knowledge of regional anaesthesia and the pain therapy in cooperation with European Society for Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Therapy (ESRA) and Swiss Society of Anaesthesiology and Reanimatology (SGAR - SSAR). The registered office of the association shall be at the domicile of the chairman of the association holding office from time to time.

The association is a non-profit organisation and shall not conduct a commercial business and not to promote the financial interests of the members. The association may be registered in the commercial register in accordance with article 61 paragraph 1 of the Swiss Civil Code. The association pursues its object by means of organizing and/or promoting educational event, seminars and conferences in the domain of regional anaesthesia and pain therapy. Further, the association shall be joining the European Society for Regional Anaesthesia (ESRA) as its member representing Switzerland and shall be in charge of the election of the Swiss delegates on the European Society of Regional Anaesthesia (ESRA). The association may promote the publishing of professional informational, educational papers and research for medical specialists. Each year one of event for specialized professionals would be organized.

The Swiss Society of Anesthesiology and Reanimation (SGAR) established on July 5, 1952 with the purpose and tasks of the Swiss Society of Anesthesiology and Reanimation (SSAR) are the SGAR understood as an umbrella association of all specialists in anaesthesiology and stakeholders. The SGAR recognizes the association statutes of the FMH for itself and its members are binding. 

The purpose SGAR is the promotion of anesthesiology, perioperative medicine and the intensive, emergency, pain and palliative care. The cohesion of anesthetists in Switzerland country with the optimization of quality and safety in anesthesiology considering scientific, structural, economic and ethical guidelines. SGAR will be development and control of medical education and vocational training in anesthesiology. Encourage and promoting scientific activity and young academics with the promotion of the specialties of anesthesiology. The SGAR is responsible for representing the professional interests of its members in regional and national affairs over population, authorities and other health institutions. With all aspects of training in medical specialties of anesthesiology and partly responsible for the additional proficiency certificates in cooperation with the other participating societies.
