The German Phytomedical Society is the German Society for plant protection and plant health. It is also known as Deutsche Phytomedizinische Gesellschaft in short DPG. It is the largest scientific association in plant production in Germany. The DGP was founded in 1949 in Fulda with headquarters in Braunschweig. And it is the professional association of practitioners of phytomedicine. The type of DGP is scientific and the purpose of the DGP is research. The DGP is membership based and the members of the society are professional in phytomedicine field. Phytomedicines are a type of plant medicines and it covers the damages which are caused by the pest, weeds and diseases to the crop.

DGP is a scientific association whose purpose is promoting research in the whole field of phytomedicine. The society seeks to achieve few activities. These are- Membership of the editorial board of the international JOURNAL OF PLANT DISEASES AND PROTECTION, Organization of and participation in meetings such as the German Plant Protection Conference, Fostering relations to organizations with related aims, Cooperating in the organization of student curricula and educational guidelines, journal publication of PHYTOMEDICINE for members and Publication of the series SPECTRUM PHYTOMEDIZIN for the expert public.

There are three types of members are there in the society. First one is the Full members who are, will be or were active in the field of phytomedicine and individual have qualification from a scientific university. Second one is promoting members. Scientific institutes, organizations, individuals and companies are included in it who wishes to promote the activities of the society. And last one is the Corresponding members.

The main spoken language in this association is German but membership is not restricted to individuals from Germany.

The first presented award of DPG was Anton de Bary Medal. And other awards are- Julius Kühn Prize, Honour Needle, DPG Science Award and DPG Junior award.

The president of DGP is Holger Bruno Deising and the CEO of DGP is Falko Feldmann.
