Italian Society of Natural Sciences (SISN)

The esteemed non-profit scientific association, in Italy, which contributes towards the progress and dispersal of scientific knowledge, is no other than the Italian Society of Natural Sciences (SISN). It is Milan based, with headquarters in the Civic Museum of Natural History, where it has been being hosted since 1866. Initially being established and regulation being approved by the Imperial Royal Decree on 23rd of July 1857by the name of “Geological Society residing in Milan” which was reformed to be named as “Italian Society of Natural Sciences” in the year 1860, dated January 22.

Few of the study centers under Italian society of natural sciences include Study center Fauna Vertebrate (Luigi Cagnolaro), Studies center of Exobiology, Centro Study Ottimizzazione Biologica, Study Center Invertebrates.

Aims of the Organization:-

  • Bringing together researchers, supporters and lovers of the natural sciences together.
  • Organization of formal meetings to present and discuss the results and observation derived by the researchers.
  • Formation of small groups of researchers(Study Groups)
  • Ensuring availability of naturalistic specialized library to shareholders and exchanges of publication with other institution.
  • Promotion of research within the national territory
  • Publication of results of research in shareholder’s journal among which even Civic Museum of Natural history is even a co-holder.
  • Collaboration with related institutions, be it public or private, with similar goals and motives, to initiate and strengthen the investigation of issues related natural and environmental concerns.
