The Japan Stroke Society

Japan stroke was established in the year 1975 with Shigeo Okinaka as its first president. The main office of jss is located at Tokyo. There are more than 5000 members in this association. Japanese neurologists, internists, neurosurgeons, rehabilitation doctors and accident & emergency doctors, among whom more than 86 are individual members of WSO. The JSS was one of the founders of the International Stroke Society (ISS), an antecedent society of the WSO. In Japan, the incidence of stroke is far greater than that of myocardial infarction, and stroke is still the most important disease here. It was the time when the natural disaster Tohoku earthquake took place. During this time the people from the effected region are being moved to the temporary houses. During this time the health conditions of the people over there has affected badly.

            Named the “national disease of japan”, strokes have a hospitalization rate surpassing those of tumor and coronary illness by 1.5 and 3.5 times, separately.
