The Korean Orthopaedic Society (KPOS) being a national organization for orthopaedic surgeons was founded in the year 1985. This organization is especially devoted to pediatric orthopaedics.
This society functions to foster, support, establish and encourage investigative knowledge of pediatric orthopaedic surgery. It also aims to promote transmission of knowledge to develop and strengthen by education of pediatric orthopaedic surgery and teaching with the use of developing education materials
The Korean Orthopaedic Society promotes specialized training of medical personnel involved in the field of pediatric orthopaedic surgery. This society is an active member of the International Federation of Pediatric Orthopaedic Societies (IFPOS) and is one of the alliance societies of the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA).
Foundation of this society was initiated by President Duk Yong Lee. The Korean Orthopaedic Society is supported by the presence of 7 presidents namely Jong Sup Shim, Se Dong Kim, In Ho Choi, Kwang Soon Song, Chin Youb Chung, Soon Hyuk Lee, Hae Ryong Song, and 10 honorary board members and other society honorary members including Auditor, Secretary and Treasurer and a panel of advisory members.
