Turkish Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology

Turkish Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology has a vision that women of the world get the greatest possible standards of physical, reproductive, mental and sexual health and wellbeing throughout their lives. This is a professional society that brings together obstetrical and gynaecological associations from worldwide. They are dedicated to the up gradation of women’s health and rights and to decrease of disparities in healthcare available to women and new-borns, as well as to improving the science and practice of obstetrics and gynaecology. The main goal of this society is to increase the status of women and their active participation to achieve their reproductive and sexual rights with access to efficient education and different services throughout their life cycle, and to improve the practice of obstetrics and gynaecology by education, proper training and research to maintain a high standard of professionalism and ethical adherence. The society’s main global achievements include a staging system for gynaecologic tumours (used in hospitals worldwide); ethical guidelines; harmonisation of scientific terms; numerous General Assembly resolutions; and various major maternal and new born health initiatives funded by major global donor bodies. Along with society’s vision for women to achieve the greatest possible parameters of physical, mental, reproductive and sexual health and wellbeing throughout their lives, they, together with other well-known reproductive health societies, identifies the adverse effects climate change, pollution, environmental wastes and chemicals can have on women’s reproductive health and new born children, including premature delivery, maternal nutrition, morbidity and mortality. Society’s newly developed sustainability and environment team will ensure that the Secretariat enables to purchase responsibly, minimise waste and promote environmental awareness. With each member of staff committed to working in an environmentally-friendly manner and actively participating in a recognised accreditation scheme.
