Waterbird Society

This Society was established in 1976 following the North American Wading Bird Conference held in Charleston, South Carolina, USA, and named the Colonial Waterbird Group. This organization changed its name to the Colonial Waterbird Society in 1986 and In 1999, the organization became the Waterbird Society to reflect an expanded interest in all aquatic birds and Waterbird Society is an international scientific, non-profit organization dedicated to the study and safeguarding of waterbirds. This society was created to establish healthy communication and coordination between the increasing number of people studying and monitoring aquatic birds and to contribute to the protection and management of stressed populations or habitats of these species.
