The West Virginia Veterinary Medical Foundation was established as an arm of the West Virginia Veterinary Medical Association in 2003. Members of the foundation include West Virginia Veterinary Medical Association members and their spouses.
The mission of the foundation is to upgrade the quality of life of animals and people in the state of West Virginia through student scholarship and government public education. During the initial years the main aim of the foundation was to build an economical base to work from in the future. Through the generous donations from members and the general public the foundation has assets more than $60,000. Unless otherwise specified the funds collected are placed in a never-ending account where only the income earned from the fund may be spent.
In most of the recent years the foundation has assisted fund the Annual West Virginia Veterinary Career Day that is co-promoter with the West Virginia University Davis-Michael Scholars Program. The Foundation also sustains a Memorial Card event for veterinarians/clinics who would like to perform. The Foundation is able to accept monetary donations to moreover its reason from members, private citizens and businesses.
An annual conference for the Foundation is held immediately preceding the annual West Virginia Veterinary Medical Association annual meeting. Any member is encouraged to attend and participate in the planning of the Foundation’s future activities.Read More»
