Haemorrhoids, also known as piles, are swellings that contain enlarged blood vessels that are found inside or around the bottom of the rectum and anus. Hemorrhoids are vascular structures in the anal canal. In the normal state , they are cushions that help with stool control. They become pathological or piles. when swollen or inflamed. At this point the condition is technically known as hemorrhoidal disease. They're most common in adults of 45-65 years, though men are more likely to get them than women.

    Classification of Hemorrhoid
They are classified as ‘internal’ or ‘external’ by where they are located in relationship to the pectinate line, the dividing point between the upper 2/3 and lower 1/3 of the anus. Internal hemorrhoids are located above the pectinate line and are covered with cells that are the same as those that line the rest of the intestines. External hemorrhoids arise below the line and are covered with cells that resemble skin.
