ICS (The Charles Sadron Institute) which is dedicated to polymer materials and self-assembled systems under the guidance of Christian Gauthier. ICS is a Scientific Research National Center collaborated with University of Strasbourg which is formed in 1954 to accompany basic research in the nascent development of the polymer industry. The institute is organized into 5 general services and 7 research teams while getting deep in history of ICS in 1967 Charles Sadron responsible for creating a new institute of molecular biophysics. Henri Benoit is appointed director of the CRM. In 1970after the departure of biologists, the ICS develops two main lines of research study of the solid state of macromolecules and the study of their structure and performance in solution when research laboratories of the High Polymers Application School (EAHP) were integrated, the CRM gave birth to the Charles Sadron Institute (ICS) in 1985. Later in 2008 ICS moved to new building which is between the (ECPM) and (IPCMS) to promote Collaborations in synergy with the Alsace Materials Cluster. The basic research in (ICS) is carried on development of the polymer and Biomaterials and complexes and many more it consists of 51 Researchers and Teachers-Researchers, 42 Engineers, Technicians and Administrative Officers and more than 100 PhDs. More 5 general services and 7 research teams whose areas of expertise and scientific expertise are explained in the "teams" the main research’s in ICS is followed by Chemistry and engineering of polymers The polyelectrolytes, Polymers at interfaces, Molecular and supramolecular self-assembly, Mixed and nanocomposite systems, Biomaterials and complexes of therapeutic interest. This research is based on broad spectrum of scientific and technical expertise gathered in the Materials and Nanosciences which is created in 2007.
