AWMI started with the vision of Heidi Doran, AWMI's author. Ms. Doran sought after the making of an association that would offer gatherings and discussions that would advance and build up the instructive foundations and polished methodology of ladies in the metal enterprises. Also, it would give a systems administration framework to its individuals to meet other buying, deals and administration ladies to upgrade their professions and vocation open doors. On March 1, 1981, she and the six other unique individuals established an association and named it Association of Women in the Metal Industries. By having "Metal" particular and "Ventures" plural, the association would include ladies from all periods of the business. Help from lawful direction guaranteed consistence with California state laws. On June 3, 1981, the association was joined in the State of California. July was the primary authority enrolment meeting and these seven ladies, now the Board of Directors drove by Betty Pearson as President (1982-1984), sought after participation.AWMI is a global, proficient association devoted to advancing and supporting the progression of ladies in the metal industries.
