American Medical Informatics Association

The American Medical Informatics Association(AMIA) is a professional scientific association that has been formed by the merger of three associations in 1988: the American Association for Medical Systems and Informatics (AAMSI); the American College of Medical Informatics (ACMI); and the Symposium on Computer Applications in Medical Care (SCAMC). For more than thirty five years, members of AMIA and its honorific college, ACMI, that have sponsored events, education, policy, and research activities. AMIA is the home for leading informaticians such as clinicians, researchers, educators, students, and other informatics professionals who depend on data to connect people, information, and technology. It is the center of action for more than five thousand health care professionals, researchers of informatics, and thought-leaders in biomedicine, health care and science as well. AMIA is an unbiased and authoritative source in the informatics community and the health care industry. AMIA members are to subject matter experts in the science and practice of informatics as it is related to clinical care, research, education, and policy. Its Clinical Informatics Board Review Course is an examination preparation program to suggest physicians to become certified in the subspecialty of clinical informatics. JAMIA is its premier peer-reviewed journal of biomedical and health informatics which covers the full spectrum of activities in this field, it includes informatics articles related areas of clinical care and research, translational science, implementation science, imaging, education, consumer and public health, and policy. AMIA aims to lead the way in transforming health care through trusted science, education, and in the practice of informatics. It connects a broad community of professionals and students who are interested in the field informatics. It is a bridge for knowledge and collaboration over a continuum, from basic, applied research to the consumer and public health areas.
