Winthrop University is often referred as Winthrop or WU and formerly known as Winthrop College. It was founded by David Bancroft Johnson in 1886. It is a public, coeducational, liberal university. It is located in Rock Hill, South Carolina, United States. Winthrop is a public, comprehensive university that is committed to be among the very best institutions of our kind in the nation.
