Hormonal treatment aims mostly at improving levels of endogenous follicle stirring hormone and/or androgen and subsequent spermatogenesis. Treatment with gonadotrophins such as Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Luteinizing Hormone (LH) may be active in patients with hypogonadotrophic hypogonadism. As an example, Tamoxifen citrate is an anti-estrogenic agent, used as a single prophylactic agent in hormone responsive breast cancer. This drug is to recover sperm quality in patients with asthenozoospermia.
Scholarly peer review is the process of subjecting an author's scholarly work, research, or ideas to the scrutiny of others who are experts in the same field, before a paper describing this work is published in a journal. The work may be accepted, considered acceptable with revisions, or rejected. Peer review requires a community of experts in a given (narrowly defined) field, who are qualified and able to perform reasonably impartial review.
