Bariatric surgery is highly recommended treatment for patients with severe obesity (i.e. BMI>40 kg/m2 or BMI>35 kg/m2 with at least one obesity related comorbid somatic condition). Engagement in health promoting behaviors, including regular exercise and healthy eating behaviors are related to maintenance of weight loss and physical and mental wellbeing after surgery. Adherence to these treatment guidelines in regard to physical exercise and eating habits varies among patients after bariatric surgery. Psychological factors are found to influence psychosocial outcome, weight loss and adherence to treatment guidelines in patients that have undergone bariatric surgery
