Electroretinography (ERG) is an eye test to detect the abnormal function of the retina. It measures the electrical response of various cells of retina like photoreceptors, inner retinal cells and ganglion cells. During this test electrode is placed on the cornea and on the skin near the eyes. After that electrical responses of the cells that sense light to light are measured in the retina at the back of the eye. The procedure followed for this is that the patient lies down in a comfortable position.
