Clinical toxicology articles had its own importance from past 1500 BC from the time of Theophrastus, Aristotle, and Hippocrates where they have mentioned about various different poisons and animal toxins. The earlier articles mainly dealt with various plant derived compounds and their therapeutic and toxic effects. The initial studies in medicine were fully relied on nature and natural resources so the discovery of various poisons and their dose differentiations were of high relevance during that time period. It was from 1960âs toxicology developed as an independent field of science and thus entered a phase of great development.
Clinical toxicology cases were initially depended on drugs, medicines their over doses and treatment but as the time progresses toxic chemicals and pollutants in the environment started increasing and transfer of these hazardous substances to humans through the food chain and other routes started causing lot of serious issues. Industrial pollutants and heavy metals also got added into list of toxins. Journal of clinical toxicology deals with all these classes of toxins their effects and consequences and health hazards.
