This condition is mainly observed in cases of AIDS where the immune system starts to recover but suddenly responds to a previous infection due to which there is an extreme inflammatory response that makes the infection worse. The CD4 T-cells are suppressed by HIV which causes a decrease in the normal immune response of the body.
