Coccidiodomycosis is commonly known as cocci. It is also known as valley fever. also known as California fever, desert rheumatism and san Jaoquin valley fever. It is a mammalian fungal disease caused by Coccidiodes posadasii. Mostly this disease is found in Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico,Texas and Northern mexico. The symptoms include influenza-like illness with fever, cough, headaches, rash and joint pain. The fungus was also recently found in south-central Washington. . Usually, people who get sick with valley fever will get better on their own within weeks to months, but some people will need antifungal medication. It is difficult to prevent Coccidioidesin exposure but the people who are at higher risk for valley fever should try to avoid breathing in large amounts of dust.
