Bioremediation is a waste management technique that involves the use of organisms to remove or neutralize pollutants from a contaminated site. The remediation technology of ground soil that can reduce the petroleum concentrations through the biodegradation process is called as Landfarming. It can also be described as land treatment or land application. Here in this technology a thin layer of contaminated soil is spread over the surface where all the requirements like aeration, nutrients and moisture is supplied. Due to this microbial activity is enhanced which in turn helps in the degradation of adsorbed petroleum products through the respiration.
