Multiple sclerosis includes an immune mediated process in which the response of the body's immune system is abnormal against the central nervous system which is made up of the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. In this disease, the myelin sheath gets damaged, the material that surrounds and protect the nerve cells. This destruction reduced or blocks messages between the brain and the body leading to the symptoms of Multiple sclerosis is also considered as autoimmune disease.
