Alzheimer's Journals

Alzheimer's disease (AD), also known as Alzheimer disease, or just Alzheimer's, accounts for 60% to 70% of cases of dementia. Olive oil marked its importance not only in commercial terms but also for medical purpose. Mediterranean countries where olive oil is consumed in huge amounts found that they suffer very less with Alzheimers disease (AD). Recent research by Dr. Amal Kaddoumi found that the significant properties of olive oil makes resistant to Alzheimers disease. In this neuro degenerative disease accumulation of beta-amyloid in the brain, believed to be the offender in AD. Mediterranean diet which is usually rich with olive oil contains high amounts of oleocanthal which is neuro protective and avoids accumulation of Beta amyloid proteins in the brain and hence eliminates Alzheimers disease. In terms of action of oleocanthal a phenolic compound which is exclusively present in extra-virgin olive oil, It clears proteins by up regulation of P-glycoprotein (P-gp) and LDL lipoprotein receptor related protein-1 (LRP1), major beta-amyloid transport proteins, at the blood-brain barrier and keeps the neural system safe from Alzheimers disease. More studies have to be made to have a clear multiple effects of oleocanthal. This mechanism has been clearly studied in the brains (invivo) and cultured brain cells (in vitro) of laboratory mice. A journal is a periodical publication intended to further progress of science, usually by reporting new research. Most journals are highly specialized, although some of the oldest journals publish articles, reviews, editorials, short communications, letters, and scientific papers across a wide range of scientific fields. Journals contain articles that peer reviewed, in an attempt to ensure that articles meet the journal's standards of quality, and scientific validity. Each such journal article becomes part of the permanent scientific record.
