Atherosclerosis is a type of disorder that occurs on account of increased levels of cholesterol and fats in our blood. In this disease, due to deposition of cholesterol and fats in the blood vessels, the arteries get narrowed. The arteries have a very important role in the circulatory system of our body. It carries oxygenated blood from the heart to various parts of the human body. When these arteries get affected, the circulation of oxygenated blood gets reduced which results in many disastrous consequences like heart attack, stroke and sometimes even leading to death.
