Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease in which bodyââ¬â¢s own immune system destroys the body cells and tissues. It occurs in females in higher frequency as compared to males. This is different from osteoarthritis that occurs on account of aging. It affects all the body parts like eye, ear, lungs, etc. except joints. The cause for the disease is still under research. Changes in hormone secretions, environment and genes are considered to be some of the reasons for the disease.
