Rheumatology is a branch of science that deals with the causes, diagnosis, treatment and scientific research on it. This includes rheumatic diseases that occur in joints, soft tissues, connective tissues, etc. These diseases mainly occur due to the denaturation of cartilage protein that is present between bones. Cartilage acts as a cushion between the bones and help to reduce friction between the two. Rheumatic diseases are seen to occur more frequently in women than men with ageing. Women acquire them after the age of 55 while in the case of men, these occur after an age of 45. With ageing, there is deposition of water in the cartilage protein that in turn destructs it.
A journal is a periodical publication intended to further progress of science, usually by reporting new research. Most journals are highly specialized, although some of the oldest journals publish articles, reviews, editorials, short communications, letters, and scientific papers across a wide range of scientific fields. Journals contain articles that peer reviewed, in an attempt to ensure that articles meet the journal's standards of quality, and scientific validity. Each such journal article becomes part of the permanent scientific record.
