The thyroid gland, or simply the thyroid, in vertebrate anatomy, is one of the largest endocrine glands and consists of two connected lobes. The thyroid gland is found in the neck, below the thyroid cartilage. The thyroid gland controls how quickly the body uses energy, makes proteins, and controls how sensitive the body is to other hormones.
Thyroid inactivity is the underactive thyroid. The under active thyroid is most common in old age people both in the men and women. And it is more common in the women compare to men. Thyroid inactivity occurs due to increase in age their may lot of changes takes place in the functioning of body. These leads to increase in weight, fatigue, depression. It is called as hypothyroidism. In children it leads to mental disorders and infertility. Symptoms include low mood, dry hair, dry skin, mental disorders, low fertility rate.
