Dental trauma mainly refers to the injury of tooth or trauma to the teeth and periodontium which are gums, periodontal ligament, alveolar bone and soft tissue such as lips, tongue, etc. The study of dental trauma is commonly known as dental traumatology. There are basically three type of dental trauma and they are tooth fractures, injuries of the periodontal apparatus, soft tissue laceration, mostly lips.
