Japanese spotted fever (JSF) is a member of the spotted fever group rickettsiosis caused by Rickettsia japonica. JSF is transmitted by tick-bite, and clinically characterized with fever, cutaneous eruption (exanthematous legions), and inoculation eschar. Diagnosis of JSF is generally based on clinical presentations, followed by serological confirmation using paired (acute- and convalescent-phase) serum.
