Penicillium simplicissimum growth in solid-state fermentation

Jatropha cake (JC), a ototoxic residue derived from the extraction of the oil from genus Jatropha curcas seeds, may be used as a substance for solid-state fermentation (SSF). Through this method, it's attainable to detoxify and add price to the current solid residue through the assembly of enzymes of biotechnological interest. However, one amongst the main technological bottlenecks in SSF is that the microbic growth management. This study aims to observe the expansion of the plant P. simplicissimum in JC by respirometry and compare this method of enzyme production in tray-type bioreactor with the one in Raimbault columns.
