Scholarly journals serve as forums for the introduction and presentation for scrutiny of new research, and the critique of existing research. Content typically takes the form of articles presenting original research, review articles, and book reviews. The term Scholarly journal applies to scholarly publications in all fields; this article discusses the aspects common to all academic field journals. Depression is the most common mental disorder. Depression affects people in different ways and can cause a wide variety of symptoms. Depression can make people feel helpless, hopeless, or empty and numb. People with depression may experience a lack of interest and pleasure in daily activities, significant weight loss or gain, insomnia or excessive sleeping, lack of energy, inability to concentrate, feelings of worthlessness or excessive guilt and recurrent thoughts of death or suicide. Depression may require long-term treatment. Most people with depression feel better with medication, psychological counseling or both.
