Scholarly Open Access Journals In Drug Delivery

The development of the ‘ideal’ drug delivery device, other issues are also worthy of mention. Antibiotic resistance among ocular pathogens, due to misuse and overuse of topical antibiotics in the eye, improper dosing regimen, and extended duration of therapy, is becoming increasingly prevalent. One of the key considerations is the ability for some microbes (such as fungi) to develop resistant spores. Upon exposure to an antimicrobial agent, the vulnerable microbes are killed but the spores can continue to remain dormant and unaffected. When the agent is removed, the spores become active and resume normal growth. The current approach to drug delivery using Contact Lenses in which drugs are continuously released, may lead to the development of resistant spores. Pulse drug delivery systems, although still in their infancy, have addressed some of the problems in regards to microbial resistance. By delivering the drug in multiple-timed doses, this method offers greater efficacy in killing microbes at doses almost half that of conventional therapies. This concept has not yet been adapted to Contact Lenses for drug delivery, and is worth considering for future development. (Chau-Minh Phan, Alex Hui, LakshmanSubbaraman and Lyndon Jones, Insights to Using Contact Lenses for Drug Delivery) Scholarly open access journals have emerged as an alternative to traditional subscription journals. Open access scholarly journals are available online to the reader without financial, legal, or technical barriers. Scholarly open access journals are journals which are respected for the extensive research and information they provide about the point. The research often possesses refereed meaning that it is reviewed by other scientists who are knowledgeable about the theme of the article. Scholarly open access journals cite their sources using references or bibliographies. OMICS Group International has 700+ peer-reviewed journals and organizes 3000+ International Scientific Conferences worldwide. Apart from providing a free access to articles to everyone, it also extends support to other scholarly journals in the peer-review process, production, and distribution.
