Journal of general practice is a medical journal that publishes case reports on health care system and patient consultations. These case reports are mainly based on unusual disease cases, medical complications, effects of new medications, or the presentations of new and emerging diseases. We believe that this case reports help the health professionals in risk management during treatment and also gives ideas to doctors on unusual events. This is a mode of awareness about disease cases to patients as well as doctors. Case reports provide new data elements to medical literature. The information transferred through these case reports even includes diagnostic errors as well as unusual cases with no previous histories. Reporting of these events are really helpful as further guidelines to doctors in handling similar cases.
The main purpose of publishing the case reports in journal is in a patient oriented manner. The case stories were always discussed among a small peer group of medical professionals, or in medical meetings but publishing those stories in an unrestricted manner can really help the medical students and health reviewers to get an idea on these unusual cases. Case stories are making more impact on readers than research and reviews and also initiates dynamic discussions in scientific community.
