Improve Bandwidth of Microstrip slotted Patch Antenna Using Two Square Shape Defected Ground Structure

In this paper, Two Square shape defected ground structure is proposed to improve the Bandwidth, return loss, efficiency and compactness of microstrip patch antenna. The performance of antenna is characterized by the shape, dimension and location of defected ground structure at specific position on ground plane. By incorporating a Square shape slot of optimum geometries at suitable location on ground plane, the bandwidth is increases from 44.6 MHz to 90.8MHz, return loss is enhanced from -13.94 dB to -39.25dB, andradiation efficiency is improved 79.91% to 98.91%, and compactness is achieved over the conventional antenna. In the end comparison of defected ground structure shape and reference antenna is carried out to choose one best optimize one. The proposed antenna is simulated and analyzed using CST microwave studio suite software.
