Yale University

Yale is one of the oldest universities in USA established in 1701 in New Heaven, Connecticut. The school was renamed in 1718 as ‘Yale College’ in recognition of a gift from Elihu Yale, a governor of the British East India Company. It is mainly established to train Connecticut ministers in theology and sacred languages.  It awarded the first Ph.D. in the United States in 1861 and organized as a university in 1887. It is mainly divided into 12 constituent schools. The main one is undergraduate school, the graduate school of Arts and Sciences and ten professional schools. It has got three campuses, one in downtown New Heaven, another one is Yale Bowl in Western Heaven and the other one in New England. Yale has got endowment assets valued $20.8 billion by 2013, the second largest assets of any academic institution in the world. The undergraduates of Yale College follow liberal arts curriculum and are organized into a system of residential colleges. Many notable alumni graduated from Yale, including five U.S. Presidents, 19 U.S. Supreme court justices and thirteen living billionaires.
