Metastasis is the movement or spreading of cancer cells from one organ or tissue to another. Cancer cells usually spread through the blood or the lymph system. If a cancer spreads, it is said to have "metastasized." The lungs are the second most frequent site of metastases from extra thoracic malignancies, while 20% of metastatic diseases is isolated to the lungs. In our sample, although 68% of patients showed an axial primary tumor, TMLM and OS were both worse for those arisen in the peripheral sites.
