Allergen Immunotherapy Scholarly Journal

Allergen immunotherapy, also called desensitization aims at patients suffering from allergies. It is a long-term treatment which decreases allergic symptoms by increasing tolerance to the specific allergen and involves the repeated administration of allergenic extracts to the patients either subcutaneously or sublingually for the treatment of allergic respiratory diseases. Allergen immunotherapy improves the existing symptoms of allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis, asthma or stinging insect allergy. Allergen immunotherapy is the cost-effective adjunctive treatment in modifying the existing disease state. This immunotherapy is associated with a shift from Th2 to Th1 immune responses, and the production of T regulatory cells that reduce the immune response to relevant allergens. Scholarly journal is a peer-reviewed journal in which scholarship relating to a particular academic discipline is published. Scholarly journals serve as forums for the introduction and presentation for scrutiny of new research, and the critique of existing research. Content typically takes the form of articles presenting original research, review articles, and book reviews. The term Scholarly journal applies to scholarly publications in all fields; this article discusses the aspects common to all academic field journals.
