Thalassemia is a disorder which is inherited from parents to children. Thalassemia is the most common type of hemoglubinopathies transmitted by hereditary. The disorder results in excessive destruction of red blood cells, which leads to anemia. Untreated, thalassemia major leads to heart failure and liver problems.
