Thrombocytosis is because of presence of high platelet counts in the blood. It is a disorder in which the produces too many thrombocytes. In normal healthy human the platelet counts 150,000 and 450,000 per mm3 beyond this count over 750,000 is considered as thrombocytosis. It can also be caused blood and bone marrow disease. When it is caused by bone marrow this is called as autonomous, essential or primary thrombocytosis. Conversely, secondary thrombocytosis very rarely causes thrombotic complications. Diagnosis can be done by liver enzymes, renal function, and full blood count and erythrocyte sedimentation rate. Depending on the platelet count treatments are necessary. Aspirin at low doses are considered to be protective if it of extremely high case then hydroxyurea is more preferable. The top journals are peer reviewed scholarly journals.
