Bariatric surgery is highly recommended treatment for patients with severe obesity (i.e. BMI>40 kg/m2 or BMI>35 kg/m2 with at least one obesity related comorbid somatic condition). Engagement in health promoting behaviors, including regular exercise and healthy eating behaviors are related to maintenance of weight loss and physical and mental wellbeing after surgery.
