Bioelectronics in particular refers to the field of science that is determined to synergise the developments of biology and electronics whereas biosensors in an analytical device that is best used for the identification and characterization of an analyte. Bioelectronics like bio-fuel cells, bionics etc are being used in conjunction with various biosensor devices like blood glucose meter etc. Among various such examples, blood glucose biosensor utilizes the enzyme glucose oxidase to break down glucose in blood. Glucose biosensor carries out the function by accepting 2 electrons to reduce FAD to FADH2. The electrode helps in the oxidizing in a number of steps. Such procedures help in the quantification of the glucose concentration in blood. This whole process is completed where the enzyme behaves a biologically active component and the electrode as a transducer thus producing a clear concept of characterization of the glucose level. Many bioelectronic devices have been designed that have been used in conjunction with biosensors, biochips etc to carry out various functions like sensing the concentrations, disease identification and analysing biosynthesis of bio chemicals. One such example is biofuels cell. Bioelectronics not only encompasses studies on electronics or biology but also has an elemental role in medicine and cancer studies. Various other devices such as electronics pumps and noses do not make use of such biosystems. Bioelectronics seeks to devise new strategies and developments in electronics and biology to study wider context of concepts like, biological fuel cells, bionics and biomaterials for information, storage, electronic components and applications. Bioelectronics is the integration of electrical engineering concepts in conjunction with biology, medicine or health. Bioelectronics plays a fundamental role in creating knowledge for molecular to organ systems levels and is responsible for developing novel ideas related to devices or processes for the diagnosis, characterization and treatment of disease for the betterment and development of scientific community from all aspects.
