An important aspect of the multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary field of primatology is its role in drawing together scientists from diverse traditions to cooperate and collaborate in learning more together from primates than could be learned by any individual working alone. As primatologists get to know one another personally--whether working in nature, laboratories, sanctuaries or zoological gardens—they come to better understand the reasons and methods for studying primates, and various perspectives merge into a more complete and holistic appreciation of behavior, evolution and health.
