Fertility drugs enhance fertility among infertile couples. Gonadotropin-releasing hormone, Oestrogen antagonists, Gonadotropins and Human chorionic gonadotropin are common fertility drugs in females. At present, no effective medications are available for male infertility. The fertility drugs fro males are in the process of research.
Gonadotropin(GnRH) releasing hormone helps to stimualte pituitary gland to release gonadotropins, LH and FSH.
Oestrogen antagonists like Clomiphene blocks negative feedback effect of estrogen. Thus, help hypothalamus to secrete GnRH which in turn provoke pituotary gland in releasing LH and FSH.
Gonadotropins help stimulate testis and ovary.
Human Chorionic gonadotropin which is secreted during pregnancy can be used as a substitute for LH.
