A Nanocomposite Approach in Power Generation Applications

Solid-state thermoelectric power generation devices have many attractive features compared with other methods of power generation, such as long life, no moving parts, no emissions of toxic gases, light weight, low maintenance, and high reliability. Thermoelectric power generators have found direct applications in areas as diverse as national security (portable power for remote sensors and transmission devices in nuclear or other dangerous sites), space exploration (power sources for spacecraft), and health care (power sources for artificial organs). Nanostructured materials with their extraordinary thermoelectric performances have shown the most potential uses.
